Good PVE Sword Build
Hey guys, I'm new to the forum, and will only post seldomly, but here is my build that I run for PVE using swords. I must admit that an in-game friend of mine came up with it, but I now use it.
Here it is:
Profession:
W/Mo
Attribute Points:
16 Swordsmanship
10 Healing Prayers
9 Strength (or tactics, it just depends on your shield)
Equipment:
Zealous Gothic Sword of Enchanting (+2 seconds of healing hands will save you from more damage than +30 health.)
I use Victos Bulwark for my shield, mostly for looks. If you use tactics, Malinon's Shield would be really good here.
Whatever armor you have is fine, although Legionnares works pretty well, considering you're using Frenzy 100% of the time.
Skills:
Frenzy
Galrath Slash
Silverwing Slash
Final Thrust
Vigorous Spirit
Live Vicariously
Healing Hands
Rez/Purge Conditions
It's pretty self-explanitory. The point is to basically use the enchantments, along with frenzy to maintain health and gain adrenaline. You essentially gain +27 health per hit, and adrenaline is gained at a good rate with frenzy on.
You can swap a rez or Purge Conditions whenever you like. Being blind really sucks >.< but a rez is needed alot of the time. It's up to you what you wanna use.
What do ya think?

For me it's ok except really depends where you going.
If you plan on attempting the mission in Napui Quarter (factions) for instance I'd advise against using this build.
Enchantment stripping from mesmers and degen while using Frenzy taking double damage from lightning ele's would kill this build pretty quick.

Very true. But there are many, and I mean many places where this build works wonders. I almost never die.

I use it for almost everything, including farming. That's why it's so good for PVE overall.

How is that "dissing" frenzy? All he said is he doesnt think frenzy is good in PvE. theres no "diss" there.
Anyways, its a pretty good build, only thing that sucks is enchantment stripping. I'd highly recommend using a Str shield, since you dont use any tactics, and 9% AP is better then nothing.

So you hit an enemy and gain 27 health, which is good, I use those a lot. For 12 seconds out of 25 if you get hit for physical damage it is doubled but you are healed for 25 and if it is elemental/blood/smite/mesmer(?)/dark/light/etc you get hit for double with no healing. That just sounds awefully situational to me, there are just too many damage types other than warrior/ranger physical out there.
Ask the monks you team with what they think about it.
I'm not a big fan of frenzy in PvE either, it is not like PvP where you are ignored, you can be targeted at any time. Add to that the multiple overlapping area affect spells that seem fairly prevalent in Factions and you don't even need to be targeted to be taking the double damage.

I dislike frenzy. A good combination instead, if you had enough skill slots, is Strength of Honour and Flurry. I also don't think relying on healing hands is a great idea, because of the risk of enchantment stripping.

I actually use frenzy on most of my warrior builds(ready to be called a noob) I think if you have good armor then it's fine. As for healing hands, it's 50 times better than mending, but don't use it, i suggest adding dragon slash as elite.

frenzy is bad i think we have established that so lets put forward a suggestion as well... i find tiger stance to be the best fit for adrenaline building. other than that the build looks fairly solid.

I agree that this is a decent build, and tiger stance is fine as well. But I REALLY like Battle rage (I know its an elite!). If used with a passive heal (like Mending ), and some high dmg attacks (and therefore high Adrenaline cost ), it will let u almost constany spam those attacks!

Frenzy stinks, being a warrior, you're goal is to take alot of damage while hacking away at enemies. Frenzy doubles (sometimes triples) the rate at which you die, and besides there are other ways to gain adreneline such as triple chop or hundred blades if you are using a sword.

When I saw HH and Live Vicariously I thought I was looking at a solo build, but then I see Frenzy and I get confused. And then you talk about using this for general PvE and I'm just totally lost.
There are two fundamental problems with this build:
1) PvE warriors do not bring Frenzy.
2) Warriors bring minimal (if any) self-heal.
If you're thinking about self-heal as a way to mitigate damage from Frenzy, I say don't bother. You could just as easily go W/R, put the points you wasted on Healing into Beastmastery, and take Tiger's Fury. If you're taking self-heal as a way to stay alive, don't bother. Leave healing to the monks, they're infinitely better at it than you are. Your job is to draw aggro and kill stuff, so bring skills to fill that role.
As a warrior, your elite should almost always be an attack skill. There are some specialized builds that use stances (Battle/Primal Rage) or shouts (Victory is Mine! for conditions builds), but general PvE warrior builds are going to want to take the likes of Eviscerate, Dragon Slash, Triple Chop, etc. Many sword builds take Dragon Slash for good reason - it's one of the most disgusting adrenalin engines in the game. By taking Healing Hands instead, you give up an extremely powerful elite for a rather pathetic healing skill, which is a bad choice for warriors.
The two other skill slots you wasted on self-heal could be filled by something more useful, like interrupts.

A skill I love when I dont have Ranger as secondary and points in Beastmastery, althought a hefty recharge and no way of using attack skill during its duration it is nice for building up the first wave of adrenaline imo
